The DBQs/LEQs in WHAP are extremely different from those in AP Psych, for instance (I dunno if you've ever taken an AP history exam before those FRQs are brutal). Not just your English essay skills, but writing skills specifically tailored to each test. Also, if you're interested in resources or my studying schedule for AP Psych (I was more organized this year and actually saved the websites used) you're welcome to DM me.įinally, make sure you're practicing your FRQ skills. Don't support the test prep industry if you don't have to! If you do decide to get prep books, the general consensus (from students, teachers, and tutors with whom I have worked) is that Barron's is more (almost too) comprehensive, and the same price as or cheaper than Princeton since you and your friend are planning to study before the school year even begins (mad props btw), you'll have plenty of time and I'd suggest you go for Barron's. Also, it may be possible to use your school's textbooks, if it offers the class and you simply don't have room in your schedule. Use teachers' websites/youtube, college board, Khan Academy, and Barron's free practice tests (these are AMAZING), just for starters there are many more sketchy websites out there if you're a persistent googler. I have self-studied for WHAP (5) and AP Psych (Pending), both very info-intensive tests, using just what is freely available online. Moreover (and I may be an outlier, but it works for me), I never use prep books. For small stuff like in AP Psych (removing hypnosis) or AP Bio (removing human anatomy) it shouldn't matter, but don't screw yourself by buying books that don't help you! The WHAP curriculum is undergoing major changes next year (maybe other subjects as well that I'm not aware of). Please view the General Questions Megathread before asking a question.ĭo your research before buying prep books! When the AP week comes, please DO NOT discuss the multiple choice section! However, in accordance with the agreements made with the College Board in regards to the release of the FRQ's, you may discuss them on this site when they are released.
